Lazy Saturday

Have been working on the Lorna's Laces Flamingo yarn while catching up on knitting podcasts. Socks in the City is a new podcast for me, so I listened to the first 5 episodes this afternoon. Also caught up with Sticks and String. I just love David's voice.

Was going to watch the Cardinals game and continue knitting, but turns out the game started at noon instead of 3 as we thought. Did catch the last 2 innings and a winner for a change. So, I'll knit and catch up on HGTV. Maybe take a nap.
Love my lazy Saturdays when I don't have to be anywhere.Sunday, June 17, 2007
Soulard Angels do the Race for the Cure

More pre-race photos are in the Soulard Angels link on the right.
The Soulard Angels had a fundraiser in June, the Lady Can Sing, for the Gateway to Hope Program. As soon as we get the final numbers I'll blog about the event and upload all the great photos.
Some progress being made on the Lorna's Laces Flamingo socks - turned the heel and working my way up the leg. Will have photos soon.
Where did the weekend go?

Flamingos Have Landed
Knitting has been slow. SO had surgery to repair a detached retina and I'm dealing with my 2nd bout of a springtime cold. So things haven't been much fun at Chez Counting Rows.

Where did March go?

The photos don't show how dirty and wet we got - but it sure was fun.
I spent a few hours at one of my favorite haunts and favorite LYS, Knitorious, learning about alternative fibers and how they behave or misbehave. I've been knitting eye pillows with Euroflax Linen which I love. The pillows make great gifts. I have one ready to go into the washer and then stuffed. It will be part of a spa basket that a few of us are donating to the SRG Trivia Night Silent Auction.
at the Lucas School House to kick 0ff the season. They have a gigantic screen in the Lounge and we made ourselves at home with Fred Bird and the players masks we used during the Worlds Series. But, the mojo wasn't there and the Cards lost.
she got for me while she was in Germany. WOW!! Now to get some of the WIPs finished so I can work on some socks with this. The orange is destined for birthday socks for mom - thank goodness I have until September!Until next time....

Westin SnB & WIPs
Tuesday night was the weekly SnB at the Westin in downtown St. Louis. It was a small group this week but we always enjoy ourselves. Here's a photo of the group this week....
Have been busy working on birthday gifts and organizing to re-start Maria's socks. I need todouble check foot measurements before I start again. Here is what I had done on the first go-round - the fairisle just became too tight to go over the heel. What was I thinking? I was just
having too much fun knitting the designs!
Well, I'm off to pack for our trip which starts tomorow!
Stitch on....

Learning Blogger & Photo Updates
Anyway, the kitty in the header is my BT (Black & Tan, not very imaginative, but descriptive). She adopted me about 11 years ago when she decided to hang out on my deck. See where she is sitting - on the keyboard and amongst the knitting projects? She loves to be helpful. The projects in the image are the Opal socks I gifted to a friend and the Purlwise Beret that was a gift to another friend.
I added a link to my finished objects photo album. I'm missing a bunch of photos and need to find them.
Here's one of my favorite photos.....

This is the recipient of the Baby Bolero from One Skein and a rolled brim hat in Organic Cotton by Blue Sky Alpacas.
Happy blogging & knitting!

Mardi Gras Soulard Style
Our Open House after the parade was loads of fun. Friends stopped by for Cajun food, drinks and the bathroom. Wonder Woman stopped in after the cancellation of the High Heel Drag Race - what a fantastic costume! Pictures of the Open House and Pet Parade can be found in the links on the right.
If you are interested in more info on Soulard Mardi Gras and photos, click on the poster...
Two knitted items were gifted - Terri received a mini sock blocker key chain to match her real socks made in Opal Lollipop and Cecelia received a pair of Fetchings in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Black. I didn't take pictures. I'll have to check to see if I have a picture of Terri's real socks.
I'll be off to the SnB at the Westin on Tuesday.

Milestones since starting blog....
1. Four days after returning from my Ireland business trip, I was laid off. First time I have ever lost a job. Took some time to get used to the idea. Didn't let it spoil Mardi Gras weekend in Soulard.
2. Took an entire month off - napped when I felt like it, worked in the garden, read, knitted, signed up on several job boards to get daily emails for jobs in StL.
3. Celebrated the 37th anniversary of being diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes - now known as Type 1. Have seen the technology to cope with this disease progress greatly, but still no cure. Been an insulin pumper for almost 4 years.
4. Finished 2 pair of gift socks! First pair of Opals. First pair of OnLine Summer.
5. Frogged the Elizabeth Zimmerman vest I was knitting as part of the GSLKG KAL. It just wasn't right. Must try it again, as I love the look.
6. Met the Yarn Harlot at the StL book signing. What a hoot! Stand-up knitting comedy. Laughed all night!!

Last night in Ireland
I'm not participating the the Knitting Olympics since I have way too
many UFOs and I've been traveling for work. Saw this button and just loved it. I'm cheering on all of the participating knitters.I'm off to pack and get to bed so I can be ready when the driver comes to take me to Shannon Airport at 7am.

Starting my blog from Ireland

I've been working in Ireland this week and decided to start a blog about my knitting obession and life in general. I'm staying in Galway at the Great Southern Hotel.
Got to do some shopping on Shop Street.

Will post pics of my handknit sweaters when I get home.
The weather has been wet and it's been gloomy. Although this morning it was beautiful, but it didn't last too long. It's amazing how many people don't use umbrellas.

Wordless Wednesday
